Sheffield City Council have been Successful in prosecuting a number of Landlords in August

Michelle Slater details the cases in the following email:

You may be aware that we were successful in all of our prosecutions last
week and I’m happy for you to circulate this to your membership;

Tues 5 August was an Illegal eviction and harassment case; Naveed
Hussain was found guilty and the case was adjourned until 28 August for
sentencing.

Thurs 7 August we had two cases;

1) A HMO on Granville Road, for failure to licence and HMO Management
Regs breaches got two guilty verdicts for Mr Ghulam Ijaz and his letting
agent UK legal

· UK legal fined £2,120
· Ijaz fined £1,000 plus costs
Total fines and costs £4,293

2) Mrs Shamim Ali (Whitney Street) was found guilty of harassment and
given a 12 months conditional discharge and to pay costs of £993. (Mrs
Ali also uses UK Legal as an agent)

We also have two cases against Castle Estates that have been adjourned
in order for us to present them together in September/October.
